Welcome! My name is Konstantinos Takis and I am a Neurologist in private practice in Athens, Greece.

I was born in Panama, where I finished Medical School in 1988.

I did my Neurology training at Northwestern University in Chicago, and afterwards a subspecialization in Cerebrovascular Diseases/Stroke at Tufts University in Boston.

After completing my training I came to Greece and started my private practice in Glyfada in 1997. I have also been an attending neurologist at many private hospitals in Athens since then.

Presently I am the Director of the Department of Vascular Diseases of the Brain, Metropolitan General Hospital in Holargos. This is a newly formed Department which deals with all types of strokes whether ischemic or hemorrhagic, with stenoses of arteries of the brain, aneurysms and vascular malformations among other.

During my daily encounter with patients who present with all types of neurological diseases, my main effort is in determining the precise diagnosis through the history and neurological examination, blood tests, imaging of the brain/spinal cord (CT/MRI), neurophysiological testing (EEG/NCS/EMG/evoked potentials), and ultrasound studies of extracranial and intracranial arteries. If a lumbar pucture or a cerebral angiogram are needed, they can be performed at the Metropolitan General Hospital, Holargos. A thorough discussion of the test findings, the diagnosis and prognosis is made with each patient. Afterwards a treatment plan is discussed with the patient, which is centered to the specific person’s clinical presentation. If hospitalization is needed for further treatment, it can be at the Metropolitan General Hospital.
